The Norwegian government has introduced the most stringent measures since World War II.
At a press conference, Prime Minister Erna Solberg calls it demanding:
- We already have import measures, but they are no longer enough. Today, the strongest and most intervening measures we have had in Norway come during peacetime. It interferes with our everyday lives and how society works, says Solberg at a press conference.
Here are the health authorities' new measures:
* All kindergartens, schools, secondary schools and educational institutions are closed.
However, kindergartens and schools must provide an offer for children of health professionals and others who work in critical social functions.
* Everyone who has been abroad must stay at home in quarantine. This also applies to those who have not been in prolonged areas. The measure applies to everyone who has come to the country since 27 February.
* Healthcare professionals are not allowed to travel abroad.
* All leisure trips are not advised.
* People are encouraged to work from home and avoid travels that are not strictly necessary.
* Access control to health institutions is introduced. Avoid visiting institutions for the elderly and other vulnerable groups.
* Cultural and sports events are prohibited and organized sports both indoors and outdoors.
* Buffets are banned. Restaurants and nightclubs must facilitate visitors to keep at least one meter distance between guests.
* All gyms, swimming pools and water parks are closed.
* Businesses that offer hairdressing services, skin care, massage and body care, tattooing, piercing are closed.
* Grocery stores are allowed to stay open.
* The public service is maintained to ensure that everyone with social-critical functions gets to work.
