Hello everyone. Building a new Von Roll Skyride for a customer. 65 feet long. 3 towers. 28 cabins.. I will be putting up photos sharing the 2nd model VR 101.

Thanks Markus.. Everything is from scratch not a kit as you know. Like you,there is very few of us that build model ropeways from scratch. For our new modelbuilders,I pattern my lifts after the legendary Von Roll VR 101 lifts.

Thank you Markus. Big smiles your way.. Very very rugged as all my lifts carry up to 4lbs in each gondola. I'm happy to show everyone in the forum what it takes to build your own model ropeway.

Unfortunately much too less of our young model builder collegues have the funds, the possibility and the room to buy and place a lathe learning to work with it. Otherwise i´m sure we would see much more self built Model ropeways...

Tension Bull wheel carrage. Made from 6061 t6 Aluminum. Sealed bearings, 316 Stainless Steel shaft.

diese sind nicht abnehmbar. einfach zu Klemmen entfernen. Lage, 5 Pfund Gewicht in jeder Kabine behandeln. hoffe, dass dies stellte sich heraus, ok, im mit Google Übersetzer.

Me too like you know 
cause this is the best base for a troublefree function lasting decades; a customer will only get satisfied if we offer best quality longlife products. And in this case he surely will contact you again if he will get interested in a further model cableway...

Our model ropeways Markus will outlast the plastic versions that are out there in numbers. the plastic ones look nice but have fatal flaws. The plastic they use isn't ment to be outside with the UV rays and outdoor elements. Plus you can't carry any weight in them without the cabin slipping or breaking. Wood over time will also start to breakdown but not as fast as the plastic.

That´s true but you may not forget that most of the ropeway enthusiasts wouldn´t have the funds to buy an individually built chairlift or gondola. So i think the Jägerndorfer plastic model ropeways are a milestone in cableway modelling and nevertheless besides some failures (i detected and posted too) i´m very glad that Klaus Jägerndorfer started this business. The chance to reach the big sucess he had with its ropeways in the meantime had been even similar to the possibility to end in a flop so it had been a rather risky decision for a small company like Jägerndorfer...

I fully agree Markus. He has had good luck with doing so. I have only imagined the sucess he has had. What are some of the flaws that you have seen in the plastic Jägerndorfer models? I havnt done much research on them.

The most troubles Jägerndorfer cableways shows targeted the motor. JC uses a cheapest motor with 0,5 mm sheet metal stripes insted of carbon brushes at the rotor and after appr. 500 hrs the stripes are finished. Both scale ropeways (1:32 and 1:87) unfortunately have similar motors nevertheless i informed Jägerndorfer about the 1:32 motor failures long before the 1:87 had been constructed...
So at all JC - cableways i sold i changed the motors without any price change to satisfy my customers...
Jägerndorfer declare its 1:32 ropeways as outdoor suitable but the nickel plating is so bad that screws rusting away after two years...

Wow.thats a small motor.. as for nickle plating, i dont use nickle plated screws. all screws i use are 316 Stainless Steel. the only things that wear out on my rides are sheaves, hanger arm bushings and switches to let me know when the gondolas leave the stations

The chinese origin producer offers the motor for small solar toys 
and 20 cents/pcs if somebody would buy a larger quantity; a bit better motor with carbon brushes in similar form would be available for 60 cents... The bigger 24 volt DC five pole Buehler 013944 type motors i use for replacements cost about $ 5,-, the 24 volt type has the ideal speed at 6 - 8 volts for the JC - purposes.
Attached picture shows the origin motor details, the replacement and some rusty screws...

Jägerndorfer unfortunately used an rather unpracticable system when two not balanced sheave parts are pressed with springs in a horizontal position; the same at support and depression towers.
For my customer´s ropeways i changed the system so the two sheave battery parts are suspensioned against each other and not against tower parts for a better function; at all towers i also change the sheave battery mounting to get the sheaves turnable.
This also allowed tu built a special JC - 8 pulley battery tower with two combined modified origin parts mounted on brass balancers:

But i think it would be better that we shouldn´t "damage" your topic with Jägerndorfer details...
