Thinking of doing either Stoos or Engelberg again this w/e - all red Spyder outfit, white helmet, on skis

Is it still stony on piste at Engelberg, or is there now enough snow to cover everything? What about Rotegg?

Obviously if there's no snow then it's difficult to open the slope, but if I look on the piste map I see that today there are 2 zubringerlifts running, then Dado, Plaun and Curnius lifts in the middle of the mountain, which enable skiing on maybe 1/10th of the resort.

If these slopes can be opened ...

I did Brunni / Mythenregion on Sunday. As with most other resorts, there is a lack of snow. Whether pistes had snow or not seemed to be a lottery based on sunshine and number of skiers. Weather was good. Oddly most of the people were on Haggenegg where the snow was worst, with Stälgeren and Holzegg ...

Now almost all of the mountain is open, so we rode from top to bottom of the mountain 2x with a few loops plus a few goes down Jochstock. Pistes at the top were definitely better than at the bottom. Rotegg was still a bit rocky, but I managed not to trash my skis or fall over ...

I looked for you and was doing the Stand 4-er lift most of the day in my all-red outfit, sometimes with one of the Prime ski instructors PM. I fell over 3 times, but snow was soft and I missed the rocks so it was fine.

I'm looking forward to trying the additional pistes. Hopefully Jochstock will also be open soon - my colleagues tell me the off-piste / piste side skiing is great there.

That's good, I will go on Sunday again then. Easily recognisable as either I'll wear either all red or silver top and red trousers with white helmet. Would be good to say Hallo or hello depending on your preferred language.

For "normal" people I would personally not recommend trying to spend 1 day on the slopes when you start. Unless you are very fit, 2 hours is more than enough as you will spend your first lesson mostly walking around, lifting heavy skis, moving in ways your body is not familiar with and falling over ...

No way that was open last weekend, unless there was a grass skiing competition. Last year the Mythenregion opened on the 30th, and even then there were tufts of grass poking through the piste.

This year my bet is on the 30th again, since there is 0-20cm on the piste now and only another 16cm ...

Wombat is right. In summary: Great snow up top, but if you want to ski lower down bring your rock skis and mogul knees.
